Appeal Launched

Updated: Jul 21, 2020

Stair Community Association needs your help to raise £25,000 to resolve the car parking issues at the Centre.

Since the community bought the Centre in 2015 we have been working on a major improvement programme to ensure the Centre continues to meet the needs of the community and remains an attractive, affordable and accessible venue for all.

The first part of the programme was to ensure the building was accessible, warm and welcoming. We have done this by:

  • installing an external and an internal lift to make the building fully accessible

  • automating the heating control so rooms are warm and ready when users arrive at the building

  • fitting new blinds throughout the building.

  • upgrading the toilets to ensure there are suitable facilities for all users.

  • refurbishing the kitchen so it is a clean and bright space for social gatherings and activities

Now it's time to address the issues of the car park which is:

  • prone to flooding

  • full of lumps and bumps

  • has a crumbling surface which means the parking bay markings disintegrate and become difficult to see

  • and results in a trail of wet, muddy and gritty footprints into the building.

In order to provide a puddle free, safe environment for everyone visiting the Centre we need to:

  • fix the drains

  • remove the trip hazards

  • restore the tarmac surface

  • permanently mark the parking bays

We have already secured £20,000 towards this project, including a grant of £10,000 from the National Lottery Awards for All programme and we need your help to raise the remaining balance.
